The Borough of Naugatuck is seeking qualified applicants for the position of

Police Officer 

Application Deadline: Friday, June 22, 2018 at Amity High School in Woodbridge, CT.  This test will have two sessions, one at 1:00pm and the other at 4:30PM.  This written exam will be administered for both Naugatuck Police Officer Candidates and Candidates that are signed up for the SCCJA Police Officer Exam.  

If you DO NOT already have a valid CHIP Card, you must take and pass the CHIP test on May 26, 2018 in order to advance to the written exam. 

The written examination is scheduled for Friday, June 29, 2018 and the oral examination date is to be determined. The Borough of Naugatuck offers an excellent fringe benefits package including a defined contribution retirement plan, tuition reimbursement, health, dental, and vision insurance.  Preference points for Naugatuck residents and residents of adjoining towns will be awarded to those who qualify for such points. The starting base salary for a Naugatuck Police Officer is $60,083.41 annually. 


  • Be 21 years of age at time of appointment
  • Be a U.S. Citizen
  • Have a High School Diploma or GED
  • Possess a valid motor vehicle operator’s license
  • Possess a valid CHIP card at a minimum 40th percentile (If you DO NOT already have a valid CHIP Card, you must take and pass the CHIP test on May 26, 2018 in order to advance to the written exam.)
  • Pass the physical agility test at the 50th percentile according to Cooper’s physical fitness standards at time of appointment
  • Candidates must successfully complete and pass a thorough background investigation, polygraph examination, psychological interview/test, and comprehensive medical examination including drug/alcohol screening.
  • Ability to meet the requirements of the Naugatuck Police Department Policy & Procedure regarding Personal Appearance.
  • Failure to meet any of the above requirements will disqualify a candidate for employment as a Police Officer with the Borough of Naugatuck.
