Serving a population of approximately 6,200 residents, the Little Silver Police Department responds to roughly 20,000 calls for service annually.

Extensive in-service training, professional development and specialized career opportunities, a Steady Work Schedule with every other weekend off (12-hour Pitman Schedule/3-day weekends), state-of-the-art technology, and equipment.

 

Minimum Requirements

  • US Citizen and New Jersey resident with valid New Jersey Driver's License
  • Be at least 21 years of age and no older than 35 years of age
  • Valid New Jersey Police Training Commission License for Basic Police Officer or Class II Police Officer (waiver eligible)
  • Outstanding Moral Character; no criminal convictions for moral turpitude
  • Possess a minimum of an Associate's Degree or 60 credits from an accredited learning institution or Military Service with an Honorable discharge

 

Job Description/ General Duties

The description of the duties of a Police Officer is illustrative. The day-to-day duties of the Police
Officers are defined by the Chief of Police pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40A:14-118 and subject to the terms of any applicable collective bargaining agreement. Performs all functions involved with law
enforcement, which include but are not limited to: public safety, traffic safety, processing necessary paperwork, and maintaining the safety, security, and laws of the Borough, County, State, and Federal Governments. Performs other job-related duties as required.

Testing Requirements

Have a passing test score from the Monmouth County Chief's exam within the past 2 years or other Law Enforcement eligibility test determined by the Chief of Police.
