HOPATCONG BOROUGH POLICE DEPARTMENT
HIRING ANNOUNCEMENT – ENTRY-LEVEL POLICE OFFICER
The Hopatcong Borough Police Department is currently accepting applications for the position of Entry-Level Police Officer. No prior law enforcement experience or certification is required.
Hopatcong Borough is a Civil Service jurisdiction; however, per NJSA 11A:4-1.3, we are authorized to hire non-PTC-certified candidates directly. If you are currently attending a police academy as an Alternate Route candidate and have not yet been hired by another jurisdiction, you are eligible to apply and should include your anticipated academy graduation date on your resume.
If you are PTC-certified and have already been hired by another agency, we are unable to accept your application at this time.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
To be considered, applicants must meet the following requirements:

Must be a citizen of the United States and a New Jersey resident.

Must be between 18 and 34 years of age at the time of appointment.

Must possess a valid New Jersey driver’s license.

Must have a minimum of a high school diploma or GED.
-
Must be of good moral character, with no indictable criminal convictions or crimes involving moral turpitude.

Must be able to read, write, and speak the English language fluently.

Must successfully pass a Physical Fitness Assessment (per PTC standards), a thorough background investigation, an oral interview, and a medical examination, which includes a psychological evaluation and drug screening.
