The Ephrata Police Department is a very progressive, well equipped, mid-sized   (33 sworn officers and 4 civilians) civil service agency dedicated to providing professional and effective policing to the communities of Ephrata Borough, Ephrata Township, West Cocalico Township and Adamstown Borough.  Benefits include:


  • Starting salary ranges from $57,546.00 to $77,609.00 depending on experience.


  • Must have reached their twenty first (21) birthday before the deadline for submitting completed applications.

  • Must possess a diploma as proof of graduation from an accredited high school or have a graduate equivalent diploma.

  • Must be a United States citizen.

  • Must, prior to appointment, possess a valid motor vehicle operator's license issued by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

  • Must be physically and mentally fit to perform the full duties of a police officer. (To be determined by a medical examination, psychological evaluation)

  • Must successfully pass a written examination.

  • Must successfully pass an oral interview process.

  • Must successfully pass a comprehensive background investigation.

  • Must successfully pass a polygraph examination.

  • Must meet the minimum qualifications for police officer certification established by the Pennsylvania Municipal Police Officer Training and Education Commission and must have successfully completed the Act 120 Training Program by the date of appointment.  Act 120 certified officers, Act 120 academy cadets and out of state police officers are encouraged to apply.

  • Must reside within a twenty five (25) mile radius of the Borough line within three (3) months of completing their probationary period. 

  • Must provide truthful and non-misleading information on identity papers and must have documented proof of work eligibility.

  • Must provide truthful and non-misleading information on every part of the employment application.
