2026 Class I Special Officers

The Deal Police Department is now accepting applications for the position of Class I Special Officer for the 2026 summer season.

Minimum Qualifications for SLEO I:

  • Must be a resident of New Jersey and a citizen of the United States.
  • Shall have graduated from high school or possess a General Equivalency Degree (GED).
  • Must possess a valid New Jersey Driver’s License.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Read, write and understand the English language.
  • Be of good moral character.
  • Pass an oral interview, background investigation and medical evaluation.

Job Functions:

  • Patrol beachfront and local business district on bicycle, foot and ATV.
  • Traffic Control.
  • Enforcement of local ordinances and parking enforcement.
  • Perform any and all other assignments at the discretion of the employee’s supervisor.

A SLEO I certification is NOT required to apply for the position.
