The Chicopee Police Department is currently accepting applications for full-time Police Officers. Both entry-level applicants and lateral transfers are encouraged to apply. Eligibility Requirements

  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • U.S. citizen
  • High school diploma or GED (college preferred)
  • Valid Massachusetts driver’s license
  • Eligible to possess a Massachusetts License to Carry (LTC)
  • No felony convictions or disqualifying misdemeanors
  • Successful completion of:

Salary & Compensation

  • Starting Salary (New Hire): ≈ $66,550 annually
    • (Step 1; effective July 1, 2025)
  • Top Step Salary: ≈ $84,864 annually
    • (Step 6; effective July 1, 2025)
  • Contractual step increases based on years of service
  • Detail Pay: $60/hour (4-hour minimum)
  • Overtime Pay: Time-and-a-half
  • Court Time: Minimum 4 hours at 1.5× base rate
  • Shift Differential:
    • $9.38/week (2nd shift)
    • $18.75/week (3rd shift)
  • Uniform Allowance: $1,500.00
