The Chicopee Police Department is currently accepting applications for full-time Police Officers. Both entry-level applicants and lateral transfers are encouraged to apply. Eligibility Requirements
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- U.S. citizen
- High school diploma or GED (college preferred)
- Valid Massachusetts driver’s license
- Eligible to possess a Massachusetts License to Carry (LTC)
- No felony convictions or disqualifying misdemeanors
- Successful completion of:
- Background investigation

Salary & Compensation
- Starting Salary (New Hire): ≈ $66,550 annually
- (Step 1; effective July 1, 2025)
- Top Step Salary: ≈ $84,864 annually
- (Step 6; effective July 1, 2025)
- Contractual step increases based on years of service
- Detail Pay: $60/hour (4-hour minimum)
- Overtime Pay: Time-and-a-half
- Court Time: Minimum 4 hours at 1.5× base rate
- Shift Differential:
- $9.38/week (2nd shift)
- $18.75/week (3rd shift)
- Uniform Allowance: $1,500.00
