STARTING SALARY: $51,647 Annually (Grade D01 – Non-Exempt)
HIRING BONUS: $5,000 (First $2,500 paid on date of hire)

ROLE SUMMARY
Correctional Deputies ensure Detention Center safety and security through the supervision, control, and care of incarcerated individuals. This position requires twelve (12) hour shifts (days, nights, weekends, holidays). Non-certified deputies must successfully complete the Correctional Academy within one year.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supervise inmate activities and ensure safety and welfare
- Conduct housing inspections and searches for contraband
- Enforce facility rules and maintain order
- Document incidents and routine activities
- Assist with intake and release processes
- Participate in required training and field instruction
- Respond to inmate needs professionally and tactfully
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- U.S. Citizen or Resident Alien
- Education: High school diploma or GED recognized by the State Board of Education that meets COMAR standards
- Experience: No prior correctional experience required
- License: Valid driver’s license
- Character: No criminal record or dishonorable discharge from the military; must demonstrate integrity, sound judgment, and emotional stability
- Physical Condition: Must meet agency physical agility and medical standards
