Job Summary:

The Wellfleet Police Department is seeking a dedicated and responsible individual for the position of Dispatcher. The Dispatcher will be responsible for receiving emergency and non-emergency calls, coordinating responses, and assisting with communication between officers and other emergency services. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to handle high-pressure situations effectively.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Receive and prioritize emergency and non-emergency calls.
  • Dispatch police officers, fire, and emergency medical services as necessary.
  • Maintain accurate records  of calls and responses.
  • Operate communication equipment, including radio, telephone, and computer systems.
  • Provide support to officers and emergency responders with pertinent information.
  • Monitor and log events in real-time.
  • Assist with administrative duties as needed.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in emergency dispatching, public safety, or a related field is preferred.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and make quick decisions.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in computer systems and software.
  • Ability to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
