SWANSEA POLICE DEPARTMENT
Civilian Dispatch Position
The Town of Swansea is seeking to hire several part time, Per Diem Police Dispatchers. The Swansea Police Department is the primary PSAP for 911 calls within the town of Swansea, police dispatchers transfer 911 calls for fire/medical related emergencies to the Swansea Fire Department. Applicants shall be at least 18 years of age and possess a High School Diploma or GED equivalent. Candidates must possess current Massachusetts 911 certification, should possess CJIS Next Test certification and familiarity with police dispatch software (IMC, IMC Lan). It is essential to have excellent verbal and communication skills including the ability to communicate clearly and concisely, as well as the ability to multi-task in a stressful environment while using multiple computers, telephones and communications equipment. Candidates must be able to remain calm and professional in emergency situations.
Candidates will be subject to medical screening and thorough background investigation.
The successful candidate(s) will be required to become familiar with Swansea Police Department policies and procedures, as well as the general layout of the town.
