ST. ALBANS POLICE DEPARTMENT
IS NOW ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR
PART-TIME DISPATCHER
A call taker/dispatcher is trained to process and direct all oral and written communications coming into the dispatch section of the Police Station. By following established procedures and employing common sense he/she performs highly responsible communication work in receiving and dispatching police and fire emergency calls and messages to the appropriate authorities and personnel. The dispatcher maintains and retrieves records and files information for dissemination to patrol units and department personnel. The dispatcher has the primary responsibility for the initial deployment of public safety personnel and equipment subject to the provisions of the applicable written directives working under the supervision of the Police Chief or a designated representative. The Call taker/dispatcher is required to provide pre-arrival instructions as set forth by the Vermont Enhanced 911 Board and the State of Vermont.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Must be willing to work nights, weekends and holidays. High School diploma or equivalent. Experience with office equipment, typewriters, computers. Experience with communication equipment is desirable but not necessary. Must attain CPR certification during probationary period. Must attain 911 certification during probationary period. Must successfully complete NCIC Certification. Selected candidates must pass a background investigation and will be of good moral character.
