Per Diem Public Safety Telecommunicator
Northwest Bergen Central Dispatch (NWBCD) seeks qualified applicants to join our team as a full-time Public Safety Telecommunicator (PST). NWBCD PSTs are responsible for the effective and efficient processing of emergency and non-emergency calls as well as handling the radio communications of over 25 public safety agencies.
Duties include:
- Receive and process emergency and non-emergency phone calls.
- Provide emergency medical pre-arrival instructions to callers.
- Dispatch appropriate public safety personnel in a professional and timely manner
- Record and track calls for service in a computer aided dispatch (CAD) system.
- Process AOC, DMV, NLETS, NJLETS, and NCIC inquiries and entries for law enforcement officers
Applicants must possess the following qualifications and certifications:
- Valid CPR w/AED certification
- Valid Basic Telecommunications Officer or 911 Officer certification
- Valid Emergency Medical Dispatch (EMD) certification
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 18 years of age or greater
- Read, write, and speak English fluently.
- Be of good moral character
The compensation for this position is $16.75 per hour during initial training.
2024 Salary: $28.25/ HR
(Per year as established in the Northwest Bergen Central Dispatch Employee Association Agreement).
This position is eligible for per diem shift incentives.
