Madison - Telecommunications Officer [Per-Diem]

The Borough of Madison is accepting applications for a per diem Public Safety Telecommunications Officer in the Madison Police Department. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: recording telephone communications, receiving and relaying radio messages to various vehicles/personnel, and other duties as assigned.  Salary is $22.50 per hour.  High school diploma or GED required.  Associates degree or higher preferred.  Three (3) years of experience in public safety telecommunications is preferred. Current New Jersey approved Basic Telecommunicator certificate is preferred.  Bilingual with Spanish a plus. Must possess a valid New Jersey driver’s license.  Must be 18 years or older.  The ideal candidate must be able to multitask and work shifts including weekends and holidays.  No benefits offered other than what is required by the New Jersey Sick Leave Act. REQUIREMENTS:
• Must be a citizen of the United States
• Must possess a high school diploma, or equivalency
• Must be of good moral character
• Must be at least 18 years old
• Must not have been convicted of a crime
• Must possess a valid New Jersey driver's license
• Ability to handle shift work including weekends & holidays
• Ability to multitask
• Reliable transportation in all types of weather
• Successfully pass a comprehensive background check
• Proficient in typing
