Dartmouth-Hitchcock is seeking a Communications Coordinator (CC) to join our team. The CC is a supervisory position that is responsible for the oversight of the DHART Communications Center operations and staff, including the resource center operation ensuring that appropriate standards are met or exceeded. The CC reports to the DHART Operations Manager and DHART Program Director.

Responsibilities:

  • Manages the hiring process for DHART Communications Specialist
  • Evaluates and manages performance of staff members
  • Plans staffing and adjustments on a daily basis as needed to assure the proper staffing and scheduling of the Communications Specialists
  • Serves as a Communications Specialist
  • Functions as the DHART liaison between the Information Systems (IS) departments, Transfer Center, and the Telecommunications departments of DHMC
  • Coordinates IS/IT-related maintenance, repair efforts, and replacements within DHART
  • Monitors, evaluates, and arranges for periodic PC related hardware replacement
  • Manages the DHART departmental computer hardware and software maintenance, repair and improvements of non-supported software and web sites
  • Provides input regarding operational and capital budgets for the department
  • Manages and acts as the point person for DHMC and DHART radio equipment, licensing and operations, paging systems and cellular systems.
  • Works with the aviation vendor to assure DHART departmental compliance and is the liaison for the DHMC communications center, operational control and severs as an agent under operational control/flight following
  • Manages and provides data reporting for internal administrative needs, and for state and regulatory agencies
  • Researches and reviews communications and operational (non-clinical) incidents and develops data, transcripts and recordings as requested
  • Maintains awareness of Federal Communication Commission, Federal Aviation Regulations, JCAHO, CAMTS standards and Vermont and New Hampshire EMS Protocols.

To be considered candidates must have an Associates Degree. A Bachelor’s Degree in a healthcare focus is preferred. Candidates should have a minimum of three years experience in emergency medical services, including emergency response as well as interfacility transport experience (Dispatcher, EMT, Paramedic, etc.). A minimum of three years experience in an air medical transport program and demonstrated experience in communications Leadership/Supervision is required. In addition, candidates should have a minimum of five years’ experience in communications (EMS, Fire, Law, and Air Medical).
