Job Announcement:
In a team-based, often stressful, customer-service focused environment, support the operation of the Cornell University Police 911 center. Coordinate emergency and non-emergency response to calls for assistance from the Cornell community. Requires the ability to multi-task, sort, and appropriately prioritize multiple frequency radio traffic to send and receive critical information. Must be able to handle sensitive emergency situations in a calm, efficient manner to ensure high level safety and security for those involved. Will make emergency notifications and coordinate various emergency services with agencies during critical incidents. Will monitor, interpret, and initiate response of the fire, burglar, and environmental alarm, Closed-Circuit TV, and card access systems. Will be responsible for data entry and retrieval for in-house computer, internet and State and Federal Criminal Justice computer systems. Will answer and prioritize emergency and business telephone lines for Cornell University Police, perform administrate responsibilities, as well as handle walk-in complaints and provide information and referrals.

Qualifications:
Associates degree or equivalent education/experience required. Strong interpersonal communications skills (verbal and written). Demonstrated experience in high level multi-tasking with ability to work well under pressure. Computer skills and customer service experience required. Must be able to work as an effective team member and build and maintain strong relationships. Must obtain FBI Criminal Justice Information Services Division (CJIS) compliant certification during on-the-job training. Must pass rigid background investigation, including fingerprint check, with no records of conviction, excluding minor traffic infractions. Must successfully complete required field training program.
Preferred:
Prior dispatching experience preferred. Radio communication skills a plus.
