Conway, NH Police Department is currently hiring for
FULL-TIME DISPATCHER
Conway is a year-round tourist destination located in the White Mountains of NH, with a full-time population of 10,000. We are seeking highly a motivated individual to join our team, which consists of 34 full-time employees, making us one of the largest departments in Northern NH.
The Conway Police Department provides 24-hour emergency dispatch services for police, as well as five local fire/EMS departments. Duties include, but are not limited to: Telecommunications, answer multiple phone lines, meet and provide service to the public, receive emergency calls from the public and E-911, dispatch appropriate fire, ambulance or police using computer-aided dispatch, and monitor fire and burglar alarms.
This is a fast-paced, multi-faceted F/T position in a 24-hour communications center, requiring good communication, computer, and people skills. Candidate must be able to multi-task, analyze situations quickly and objectively using critical thinking, make quick, workable decisions under pressure, and manage stress. Must be able to work rotating shifts (nights, weekends and holidays included).
Minimum Requirements
- Must have high school diploma, or equivalent.
- Be 18 years of age by hire date.
- Residency is required within 12 months of hire date.
Hiring Process
Applicants must be able to pass:
- An Oral Board
- A Written Exam
- A Polygraph
- A Psychological exam
Salary & Benefits
Starting pay of $19.93/hr plus benefits package (includes a 6-week on the job training program, medical, dental, long-term disability and life insurance, vacation, sick time, and NH Retirement System).
