Job Announcement:
SUMMARY: Receives and transmits emergency and administrative messages over combined Police, Fire, and emergency medical communications system. Routes all calls, dispatches personnel and equipment to scene. Must operate radio equipment, various computer programs, CAD and NCIC computer systems, and related equipment. Must communicate clearly, calmly and effectively under emergency situations and have excellent customer service and multitasking skills.
QUALIFICATIONS: High School graduate or equivalent, must have one year comparable experience and accurate data entry skills. Prior public safety dispatching and/or emergency medical certification strongly desired. Must complete all local, state, and federal mandated certifications. Must have strong communication skills to perform duties under highly stressful situations.
CLASSIFICATION & SCHEDULE: Full-time position, 40 hours per week. Required to work shift schedule that includes days, evenings, weekends and holidays.
Shifts are 1st - 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., 2nd - 2:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., and 3rd - 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. Shifts are bid by seniority after completion of initial Training Program.
BENEFITS include Defined Benefit Pension Plan, generous time off (personal days, perfect attendance days, vacation, accrued sick leave, including 12 full day & 2 half day holidays) & insurance package (medical, dental, vision care, prescriptions, life, and short term disability). Uniforms provided.
SALARY: $27.64/hour. (Scheduled increase to $28.26 on 07-01-21.) Receive 6% shift differential for 2nd and 3rd shift work. (Advance to $30.86/hr. (STEP 2) upon obtaining all required certifications and completion of in-house Training Program or no later than 6 months from start date. Advancement to $31.25/hr. (STEP 3) received 6 months from achieving step 2.)
