Crime Analyst/Information Technology Support
The Wise County & City of Norton Sheriff’s Office is seeking an entry-level Crime Analyst / IT Support Specialist to assist with crime analysis and provide technical support for agency operations. Crime analysis training will be provided. This role supports investigations, helps identify crime trends, and provides day-to-day IT assistance for both office and mobile patrol technologies.
This is a three year funded grant position that has full benefits and VRS retirement. There is the potential for pay increases for each year based on performance. Continued employment after the grant period is not guaranteed but may be possible based on performance, agency needs, and budget. This is a civilian, non-sworn position.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct crime pattern/trend analysis.
- Identify crime hotspots, produce analytical reports, and support resource allocation.
- Support and help train staff in using forensic and analytical technologies.
- Provide IT support for desktops, laptops, mobile devices, and patrol unit systems.
- Install, troubleshoot, and configure hardware, software, and basic network equipment.
- Assist in supporting agency software systems under the guidance of the software vendors/contractors/Sheriff’s Office employees and County IT Director.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent (associate degree or higher preferred).
- Experience in IT support or helpdesk services required.
- Ability to learn crime analysis techniques and work with data.
- Basic knowledge of Windows systems, networking, and common software.
- Ability to pass a background check and maintain confidentiality.
