Summary:

Under general supervision, independently performs varied and complex clerical work; may maintain administrative and financial records; assists the public, local, state and federal agencies by providing general and/or technical information.  

Examples of Specific Duties:

Plans and organizes work according to standard office procedures.  Relieves supervisor of office detail work. Handles all court paperwork under court deadlines for the Police Department, reviewing for accuracy and completeness pertaining to information the Court needs, such as bond forms and uniform arrest reports.  Process criminal history folders for arrestees.  Responsible for entering all data from cases with a criminal aspect into the Department’s Records Management System, which then goes to the National Incident Based Reporting System.  Assists the supervisor with monthly reports, as needed.    Receives inquiries from the public and other state/local/federal agencies in person, by phone, fax or email.   Provides technical or general information and assists citizens in completing and filing various applications and forms. 

Minimum Qualifications:

The skills and experience required would generally be acquired with a high school education and three years of increasingly responsible office clerical experience.  Customer service skills essential.  A minimum of two years of National Incident Based Reporting System (NIBRS) experience is required.   Experience as a Records Clerk.

Desired Qualifications:

Prior clerical experience of a responsible nature in a government office, service business, or related field.
