Starting at $25.25 - $26.45  depending on experience -

40 HRS/WEEK

Minimum Acceptable Characteristics

Experience in performing varied maintenance duties as well as experience in electrical, plumbing, carpentry and air conditioning repair and familiar with related safety practices.
Trained and able to operate powered and non-powered tools and equipment and familiar with related safety practices.
Able to operate all required emergency and communications equipment by the end of probation. Must also be able to operate all required computer programs.
Be familiar with all building systems to include plumbing, electrical, locks, communications, HVAC, DDC, etc. by the end of probation.
Able to deal with the public, fellow staff and detainees in a professional, clear and courteous manner at all times.
Able to follow oral and written instructions.
Able to prepare clear, concise and accurate reports.
Able to read and follow instruction manuals.
Able to calculate fractions, decimals and percentages.
Able to crawl on hands and knees.
Able to work in confined spaces.
Must not be afraid of heights.
Able to sit or stand for long periods of time.
Able to climb stairs and ladders.
Able to frequently lift/move 50 pounds or more combined with bending or twisting and occasionally lift/move 100 pounds or more.
Must complete all in-service training as required.
General knowledge of the operations of the LCSO.
Pass all LCSO general employment requirements.
Resident of Logan or an adjacent county within 90 days of employment.
Valid Ohio Driver's License
High School Graduate or equivalent

Job Duties in Order of Importance:

45% MAINTENANCE AND REPAIR:
    Performs skilled maintenance and repair of all electrical, mechanical, electronic, plumbing, heating, ventilation and air conditioning, carpentry and other building equipment and systems.
   
   
    Performs maintenance checks and preventative maintenance of boilers, water heaters, air handlers, refrigeration/freezer units, etc.
   
    Changes screens and filters and paints as needed.
    Handles maintenance repair requests from Lieutenants.
                     
25% EQUIPMENT OPERATION:
    Operates and maintains power equipment, lawn equipment and county owned vehicles. Snow removal as needed.
   
                     
10% INSPECTIONS:
    Inspection of the radio tower to include generator test and fuel check.
 
    Inspection and test of the generators.        
    Bimonthly building inspections to include toilets, sinks, lights, doors, locks, cameras and intercoms.
   
    Assist Fire Protection Company with fire/sprinkler and extinguishing systems inspections.
   
    Perform equipment safety checks as required.
                     
10% INMATE SUPERVISION:          
    Supervise inmate workers in all aspects of maintenance activities including building and equipment maintenance, vehicle maintenance, landscaping, janitorial operations, electrical procedures, painting, floor maintenance and other related work as required.
   
   
   
                     
5% RECORDS AND SUPPLIES:        
    Establish files and reports on equipment needs.
    Maintain an established inventory of work tools and spare parts.
    Orders and replenishes janitorial items and supplies as needed.
    Maintains open communication with Commissioner's Office in regards to contracts and maintenance issues.
   
    Submits annual report on equipment maintenance status to Corrections Lieutenant.
   
    Keep all maintenance contracts renewed and up to date.

Performs all other duties as assigned.

 

Benefits:

4 Personal Days – expire quarterly – available after 30 days of employment

Paid Vacation 2-5 weeks per year depending on service time.  Vacation does not expire and can roll over for up to 3 years. Available after one year of employment.

Begin earning paid sick time immediately, 3 weeks per year.
