POLICE INVESTIGATIVE ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT 

The Galloway Township Police Department is currently accepting applications for the position of Police Investigative Administrative Assistant. This is a part-time civilian position assigned to the Investigative Division of the Galloway Township Police Department.

The successful candidate will provide administrative and investigative support to the Investigative Division and will have access to confidential, sensitive, and law-enforcement-related information.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Conducting and assisting with background investigations for firearms applicants.
Conducting background investigations for volunteer public safety applicants.
Conducting background investigations related to solicitor permit applications.
Reviewing records, databases, and other available information as part of assigned background investigations.
Communicating with applicants, references, agencies, and other individuals as necessary to complete assigned investigations.
Preparing, organizing, and maintaining records and documentation related to assigned investigations.
Providing general administrative support to the Investigative Division.
Performing other related duties as assigned based on the operational needs of the Police Department and Township.
QUALIFICATIONS

Applicants should possess:

Strong organizational and time-management skills.
Effective written and verbal communication skills.
The ability to work independently and manage multiple assignments.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
The ability to appropriately handle confidential and sensitive information.
Basic computer proficiency and the ability to learn law-enforcement-related computer systems and databases.
The ability to interact professionally with members of the public, law enforcement personnel, government agencies, and other organizations.
Prior law enforcement, investigative, records, background investigation, or related administrative experience is preferred but not required.

Retired law enforcement officers seeking a part-time civilian position are encouraged to apply.

Due to the sensitive nature of the position and its access to confidential law enforcement information, candidates will be required to successfully complete a comprehensive criminal background investigation as part of the hiring process.

HOURS AND COMPENSATION

Part-Time: Approximately 20 hours per week
Anticipated Schedule: Three workdays per week during normal business hours
Rate of Pay: $29.00 per hour
Specific workdays and hours will be scheduled based on the operational needs of the Investigative Division.
Eligible part-time employees will receive paid sick leave in accordance with applicable New Jersey law and Township policy.
Permanent part-time employees will earn paid vacation leave on a prorated basis in accordance with Township policy.
