THE CITY OF GROTON
PT COMMUNITY SERVICE SPECIALIST
SUMMARY
The Part-time Community Service Specialist (up to 19 hours per week), a civilian position, works closely with the Groton school system, teachers, youths and advisors to create and organize a Branford Manor based After School Tutoring Program in an effort to provide school aged residents with educational assistance. Provides instruction and education to Local Law Enforcement and Civilian Agencies by providing Autism Understanding and Training.
QUALIFICATIONS
Must have strong and effective communication skills. Requires the ability to maintain a calm demeanor in stressful situations. Must be well organized and attentive to detail. Must have the ability to create and effectively instruct lesson plans.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma or equivalent. Associate Degree preferred. Three to five years of related experience and training in order to apply their knowledge of issues presented in the course of their work. Certification in ALEC First Responder Training required

LENGTH OF ASSIGNMENT
As permitted by budgetary considerations not more than one (1) year, unless extended with budgetary approval.
