WOLCOTT POLICE DEPARTMENT
POSTC Certified Police Officer
The Wolcott Police Department is currently accepting applications from POSTC certified police officers for the position of Police Officer for anticipated upcoming vacancies. Applicants are required to successfully complete the Connecticut Police Chiefs Association (CPCA) Certified Police Officers Written Examination prior to applying for this position. As part of the hiring process, applicants will be required to successfully complete an oral interview, background investigation, polygraph, psychological and physical examinations. Applicants must have at least 2 years of experience as a POSTC certified Police Officer in the State of Connecticut.
The Town of Wolcott is home to approximately 16,000 residents over 21 square miles. The Wolcott Police Department consists of 26 sworn officers with the following rank structure:
- Police Chief
- Two Lieutenants
- Five Sergeants
- Three Detectives
- Fifteen Patrol Officers
Benefits:
- Certified officers with three years of experience start top step at $96,200 (including holiday pay and uniform allowance)
- Yearly Holiday pay $5,000 (paid semi-annually)
- Yearly uniform allowance $800
- New 5/3 schedule pending approval
- 401 K – After 6 months officer contributes 3% and town contributes 6% after 5 years increased to 4% and 7%, respectively. Fully vested after 6 years
- 457 Deferred Compensation Plan
- Longevity Bonus Compensation
- 1 week vacation at 6 months, 2 weeks at 1 year, and 3 weeks at 5 years
- 18 Sick Days per year
- Private Duty Rate $75.58/hour and multi-town private duty agreement
- Healthcare Anthem Century Preferred PPO. Vision and Dental also through Anthem

- Regional Accident Reconstruction Team
- Regional Emergency Response Team
- School Resource Officers
- Rotation through Regional State Police Violent Crimes Task Force
