CT P.O.S.T. CERTIFIED POLICE OFFICER

Schedule:          Patrol Schedule is a rotating bid by seniority,  5 on 3 off, then 5 on 2 off 

Qualifications: 

Candidates must be P.O.S.T. certified Police Officers in the State of Connecticut (must be off of Field Training for 2 years), a U. S. citizen, possess a valid motor vehicle license from the State of Connecticut, a High School Diploma or GED, be at least 21 years of age and pass a Medical Examination with drug screening, polygraph test, psychological test, background examination, examination of fingerprints, physical fitness test, personal interview and any other P.O.S.T. requirements for lateral transfer.

- Starting salary at up to $78,000 and Top Step Patrol Officer $80,000

 Detectives, K9, SRO, Temporary Federal Assignments, Accident Reconstruction Team, Drone Team, Dive Team. SWAT Team, Bicycle Patrol

Sec. 7-291c. Prohibition against hiring police officer dismissed for malfeasance or who resigned or retired while under investigation. (a) No law enforcement unit, as defined in section 7-294a, shall hire any person as a police officer, as defined in said section 7-294a, who was previously employed as a police officer by such unit or in any other jurisdiction and who (1) was dismissed for malfeasance or other serious misconduct calling into question such person's fitness to serve as a police officer; or (2) resigned or retired from such officer's position while under investigation for such malfeasance or other serious misconduct.

Examination: 

The examination consists of a written exam which has a passing score and a Physical Agility Exam which is pass/fail at the 40th percentile.  Applicants must meet all P.O.S.T. requirements for lateral transfer.  The exam will be set up at a later time.
