POLICE DEPARTMENT
NOW ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR
POLICE OFFICER
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum age required by Florida law and the CJSTC for Police Officer.
- Must have or be able to obtain a Florida Driver's License prior to start date
- High school diploma / GED
- Successfully complete Basic Recruit School in the State of Florida or receive a certificate of comparative compliance from the CJSTC.
- Be able to effectively communicate information orally and written.
- Excellent physical and mental condition, successfully passing physical examination and psychological examination.
About Our Department & City
- 35,000 population
- We are hiring 5+ officers
- A typical year's call volume is around 17,200 calls for service
- We have several new specialty units opening up soon: traffic unit, K-9, Selective Enforcement Unit, Community Outreach Unit, Investigations, Command Staff
- We have a brand new south end headquarters opening sometime in 2025/2026.
Testing Requirements:
Successfully complete Basic Recruit School in the State of Florida or receive a certificate of comparative compliance from the CJSTC.
- If you are an in-state corrections certified applicant, you must complete a "Crossover Career Certification" program to be eligible to take the State of Florida Law Enforcement Certification Exam. Upon successful completion of the exam, you will be able to submit your application to work at our agency.
Hiring Process:
- Physical Abilities Test - basic agility course *must finish course within 6 minutes 4 seconds*
- Written Exam - includes basic math and reading comprehension questions
- Oral Board Interview - interview with selected panel of command staff
- Background Investigation
- Drug Screening
- Physical Medical Exam
- Polygraph
- Psychological Evaluation
