Lateral Officers:

Requirements

  • Must be a United States Citizen
  • Must be 21 years of age at the time of licensing
  • Must possess a High School Diploma or GED
  • Must possess a valid driver's license. If out-of-state, must be able to obtain a Texas Driver's License in a specified time after appointment. 
  • General good health, normal hearing/vision and free of color blindness.
  • Must be currently licensed Peace Officer in the State of Texas  (Out of State Applicants must have already successfully challenged the TCOLE Test)

Automatic Disqualification List

The following are absolute disqualifiers for employment as a sworn officer:

  • Conviction of any felony
  • Conviction of a Class A Misdemeanor
  • Conviction of a Class B Misdemeanor in the last 10 years
  • Conviction of any Family Violence Offense
  • Dishonorable discharge from military

If you can answer YES to any of the above questions you are not eligible to be a police officer
with the Weatherford Police Department.
