General Statement of Job
The Fire Rescue Accreditation Manager is responsible for managing accreditation and compliance activities within the Walton County Fire Rescue. The Accreditation Manager ensures that departmental program operations are in compliance with accreditation standards, departmental standard operating procedures, and State/Federal mandates. The Accreditation Manager identifies, verifies, and reconciles compliance with established departmental standards and corrects any noted deficiencies.
Minimum Qualifications
- Must have a minimum of seven (7) years of full-time service as a firefighter with three (3) of the years being at WCFR.
- Must possess a certification as a Firefighter II by the State of Florida.
- Must possess a certification as a Florida EMT or Paramedic.
- Must possess a Florida Fire Officer I certification.
- Must possess a Florida Fire Instructor I certification.
- IS-100.c, Introduction to the Incident Command System, ICS-100.
- IS-200.b, Incident Command System for Single Resources and Initial Action Incidents.
- IS-700.b, National Incident Management System, An Introduction.

Essential Job Functions

- Regular and prompt job attendance.
- Reads, interprets, implements, and enforces State, County, and agency policies, procedures, codes, and regulations.
- Manages accreditation and compliance activities within the Walton County Sheriff’s Office.
- Maintains departmental policies and forms and ensures compliance with accreditation standards.
- Recommends changes to policies and procedures when indicated by accreditation updates, changes, or modifications; maintains a standard format for policies to be reviewed and revised on a scheduled basis.
- Maintains accreditation files.
- Coordinates mock and on-site assessments and inspections.
- Prepares and submits required reports and documentation to accrediting bodies.
- Conducts random, unannounced inspections of departmental personnel and facilities for the purpose of assessing compliance with accreditation standards.
- Serves as liaison between administration, other departmental personnel, and outside agencies in all accreditation and compliance efforts.
- Ensures appropriate training for all department personnel on all new and revised policies. Coordinates the department’s self-assessment and other preparations made in advance of initial or renewal of accreditation.
- Collects and maintains required proofs.
- Submits yearly reports to the accreditation bodies to maintain accreditation status.
- Prepares the department for re-accreditations.
- Makes recommendations based on accreditation inspections and assists other agencies, sections, and divisions in their accreditation efforts.
- Attends and participates in accreditation meetings and serves on accreditation-related committees.
- May act in a higher capacity as Battalion Chief and be expected to perform all the required and related duties for that rank.
- Directs, assigns, and manages personnel and physical resources under their supervision.
- Operates a computer utilizing various software packages and email.
- Responds to all types of fires and other emergencies.
- Provide information to staff regarding law and policy changes.
- Meets with both internal and external stakeholders on a routine basis for all programs managed to determine the effectiveness of our current service delivery model.
- Adheres to work schedule and attendance requirements.
- Performs other duties as necessary and required.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Tasks involve the intermittent performance of extremely physically demanding work, typically involving some combination of reaching, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, running, climbing, and that may involve the lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling of extremely heavy objects (150+ pounds), such as in the event of rescuing or transporting a victim/patient in the performance of rescue operations.
- Knowledge of business assessments, training methods, file-building techniques, and requirements for assessor reviews.
- Demonstrated ability in the collection and presentation of data.
