This is currently a shift position, working 2:00 pm to 10:00 pm.

$5,000 Sign on Bonus

General Statement of Job –

Responsible for providing efficient, responsible services that enhance our quality of life, meet common needs and promote safe and healthy community. The incumbent of this position provides general patient care and basic patient education.  The incumbent takes direction from Health Services Administrator and Medical Services Coordinator and follows medical orders from Physicians and mid-level providers.  The work site for this position is the Walton County Jail.

 

Qualifications –

  • Certification in Florida as a Licensed Practical Nurse/Registered Nurse or, a combination of education and experience equivalent to these requirements.
  • State of Florida License as a Licensed Practical Nurse/Registered Nurse.
  • Must possess a Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification at the time of employment.
  • Must have a valid Driver's License.

 

Essential Job Functions –

  • Follows all Federal, State, Jail health care and WCSO Policies, regulations and guidelines.
  • Participates in screening, evaluation, and care of inmates in a variety of settings which includes sick call, Mental Health care, chronic care illness clinics, infirmary care, and confinement care under the supervision of a Physician and/or Registered Nurse.
  • Provides treatment and medication administration as per physician and mid-level practitioner orders
  • Performs specific nursing tasks including vital signs, venipuncture and IV therapy (must have phlebotomy and IV certifications)
  • Provides appropriate nursing interventions in emergency situations
  • Responsible for complete and accurate documentation of care provided in the inmate’s health records
  • Maintains health services records logs and assists with data entry within the scope of nursing related items
  • Maintains accountability of all controlled substances and prescription medications according to federal and state laws and organizational regulations
  • Participates in the monitoring, requisition and documentation of the use of medical supplies and equipment
  • Provides supervision for non-licensed health care staff
  • Participates in inmate educational health programs
  • Coordinates with medical, dental mental health and ancillary personnel, as required, to ensure continuity of care
  • Participates in continuing education and in-service training to maintain professional capabilities and proficiency
  • Assists in the training and orientation of new employees
  • Other related duties as assigned

Physical Requirements-

  • Stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, talking, seeing, finger and hand dexterity as well as repetitive motions
  • Very Heavy work: exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/ or in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Incumbents may be subjected to moving mechanical parts, electrical currents, vibrations, fumes, odors, dusts, gases, poor ventilation, blood and other bodily fluids, chemicals, oils, extreme temperatures, inadequate lightening, work space restrictions, intense noises and travel.
