Now Accepting Applications for the Position of
Police Officer
The Town of South Windsor is accepting applications for our open positions for Police Officer. We will only be accepting applications via PoliceApp.com and we will be accepting applications until the positions are filled. If interested, please apply early, as the process will proceed on a rolling basis in order to fill our open positions as quickly as possible. You MUST have received a CPCA Certified Police Officer written score above 70 as a prerequisite to apply to the South Windsor Police Department.

ABOUT OUR DEPARTMENT:
The South Windsor Police Department is a proactive and progressive law enforcement agency with a focus on community policing and problem solving. The department offers paid training, a competitive salary ($82,461.28 - $104,434.12 ($87,483.18 – 110,794.16 after July 2026) and benefits package, and a defined contribution retirement plan. Officers can work in numerous special assignments including Criminal Investigations, Traffic, Vice & Narcotics, Youth Services (School Resource Officers), Digital Investigations, Canine Handler, and participate in various regional teams such as Metro Traffic Services and the Capitol Region Emergency Services Team (SWAT-Negotiators-Dive).
ABOUT THE PROCESS:
The hiring of a police officer is a multiple phase process that includes the following:
- Application via Policeapp.com (online)
- CPCA Certified Police Officer Written Exam (minimum 70% score required)
- Oral Interview Panel (minimum 70% score required)
- Personal History Questionnaire
- Background Investigation
- Polygraph Examination
- Psychological Evaluation
- Physical Exam, Drug Screen, Stress Test
- Interview with Chief of Police
Additional Notes:
Grooming Standards- Tattoos & Piercings:
The South Windsor Police Department does not permit facial piercings to be worn on duty and only female officers are permitted to wear 1 pair of small stud type earrings while on duty.
Tattoos are now acceptable provided they are not offensive in nature. No visible tattoos are permitted on hands, neck or face that would be visible while in uniform except for a single "wedding band style" tattoo on the ring finger of the left hand.
