AGILITY FITNESS TEST

AN AGILITY FITNESS EXAM WILL BE HELD FOLLOWING THE WRITTEN EXAM ON SATURDAY, MARCH 7, 2026, AT 12:30 P.M. AT MARTORELLI STADIUM, 5336 PERRYSVILLE AVENUE, PITTSBURGH, PENNSYLVANIA 15229. 

AGILITY FITNESS TEST STANDARDS AND INSTRUCTION VIDEOS:

CANDIDATES ARE REQUIRED TO MEET THE MPOETC POLICE ACADEMY ENTRANCE STANDARDS THAT CORRESPOND TO THEIR BIOLOGICAL SEX.  THESE STANDARDS HAVE BEEN DEVELOPED TO REFLECT PHYSIOLOGICAL DIFFERENCES AND ENSURE CONSISTANT SAFETY AND CAPABILITY EXPECTATIONS.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS TO APPLY

  • Must be a United States Citizen.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Must possess a valid Driver’s License.
  • Must possess a Diploma from an Accredited High School or a Graduate Equivalency Diploma (GED).
  • Must possess at least ONE of the following requirements:
    • A diploma from an accredited high school or a graduate equivalency diploma and an associate’s degree or higher from an institution of higher learning that is accredited through a recognized regional accreditation agency, OR
    • A diploma from an accredited high school or a graduate equivalency diploma, and three (3) years consecutive experience as a full-time, active-duty police officer at the time of application.
    • Have active-duty experience (as hereinafter defined) as a police officer at the time of application.

Township shall consider an applicant as having full-time active-duty police experience if the applicant was employed as an active-duty police officer with an agency having powers of arrest under State, Federal,  and/or Military law, and having worked in excess of fifteen hundred (1,500) hours per year, for four (4) consecutive years within the five (5) years prior to application.

Every applicant shall have successfully completed the Pennsylvania MPOETC Basic Training requirements and received what is commonly known as Act 120 Certification at the time of application (online or written).

Applicants who are currently out-of-state certified police officers shall obtain prior to time of application a Waiver of Training from MPOETC under Section 203.12 of MPOETC’s Rules.

Other mandatory components of the test are an oral examination, a background check, an agility fitness test, a polygraph examination, a medical examination, and a psychological examination.  A complete copy of the Ross Township's Hiring Policy as set forth in its Civil Service Rules is available for inspection during regular business hours at the Ross Township Municipal Building.
