The Plainsboro Township Police Department, Middlesex County, NJ, is accepting applications from certified candidates for a position of full-time Police Officer. Candidates shall not be under any contractual obligation to another department under NJSA 40A:14-178 or must be willing to satisfy any training reimbursement to the prior department. This position is for Police Training Commission fully certified officers. SLEO II officers are not eligible for this process.  Alternate Route Candidates must graduate from the academy by the closing date to be considered. 

Qualifications:

  • Applicants must be a US citizen and a resident of NJ.
  • Applicants must be PTC Certified.
  • 21 years of age, must not reach the age of 35 prior to date of hire.
  • Applicant shall be of good moral character, sound body, and good health.
  • Applicants shall be able to read and write the English language well.
  • Applicants shall have no convictions of any criminal offense involving moral turpitude.
  • An Associates/Bachelor’s Degree is preferred, but not required.
  • Applicants with no college degree will be required to obtain a minimum of sixty college credits within three years of employment date (education reimbursement offered through the collective bargaining agreement).

An applicant must have two (2) years of verifiable employment, or a minimum of two (2) years active military service with honorable discharge.

Applicants are required to pass oral boards, extensive background investigation, medical and psychological examinations, and a drug test prior to appointment.

  • Resume and Letter of Interest
  • Proof of Education/military (if applicable)
  • Copy of valid NJ Driver’s License
  • Copy of PTC Certification
  • For candidate(s) who are bi-lingual, please depict what language(s) you speak, read, and write fluently
