The New Canaan Police Department is an internationally accredited agency that is currently accepting applications for the position of full-time certified Police Officer.  Applicants must be a U.S Citizen, at least 21 years of age, and have a high school or equivalent degree.  Applicants must have a current out-of-state certification that meets POSTC Comparative Certification requirements.  A minimum score of 40% on the CHIP Test and a minimum passing score of 75% on the CPCA Entry Level Police Officer Exam are required prior to applying.  Potential candidates will be required to complete and successfully pass a peer interview, polygraph examination, Police Commission interview, psychological evaluation, medical examination and a thorough background investigation.  A competitive wage and benefits package will be offered in accordance with the current labor contract.  There is no residency nor proximity requirement for employment with the department.  Applicants must go to www.policeapp.com to apply.  This recruitment process will remain open until all positions are filled or at the discretion of the Chief of Police.  Any questions should be directed to Sgt.   • Any Felony Convictions
  • Any Conviction of a Class A or Class B Misdemeanor (under CT Law or in any other jurisdiction that if committed in this state, would constitute a Class A or B misdemeanor.)
  • Conviction of any act which would constitute perjury or false statement
  • Conviction for any domestic violence related misdemeanor crime.
  • Applicant must not have been dismissed from any law enforcement unit for malfeasance or other serious misconduct.
