Metuchen Borough Police Department is Accepting Résumés for the
Position of
Full Time NJ PTC Certified Police Officer
SALARY
- 2024 Starting salary $55,585.00 -starting salary may be higher for officers with prior full-time experience,
- top salary of $136,622 in 2024,
- top salary of $141,299 in 2025
- top salary of $146,139 in 2026
MINIMIUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Applicants must be at least 21 years of age and no more than 35 years of age at the time of appointment.
- Applicants must be a U.S. citizen and resident of the State of New Jersey.
- Applicants must be a high school graduate or possess a GED.
- Applicants must have a valid New Jersey Driver's License.
- Applicants must be able to pass a PTC authorized background check.
- Applicants must be able to pass a medical exam, psychological exam and drug test.
- Applicants must be able to obtain or renew the LEO License issued by the New Jersey Police Training Commission (PTC).
- Applicants must possess a certification; either a Basic Police Officer or a SLEO Class II that is waiver eligible issued by the NJ PTC. At the very minimum, an applicant must be enrolled in a NJ PTC Alternate Route course graduating before 07/01/2024.

In addition to everything else mentioned above we consider ourselves a modern police department that keeps up with cultural changes in law enforcement. Our officers allowed to have visible tattoos, except on their face, neck and hands, and facial hair is acceptable. Officers also have the option to wear a tactical outer carrier. |
