MAYWOOD POLICE DEPARTMENT
IS NOW ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR:
FULL-TIME POLICE OFFICER
The Borough of Maywood is currently accepting applications for the position of full-time police officer. Maywood is a municipality located in Bergen County. Police Officers work a 12-hour Pitman schedule and have a current signed Memorandum of Agreement. Maywood is a non-civil service municipality.
All applicants must currently have a New Jersey Police Training Commission Certification of Police Officer (fully certified) who are currently employed as a police officer in New Jersey and who have been employed (post academy) with a police agency for more than 2 years, OR officers who are PTC Certified, but not yet employed by a police agency. You are not eligible to be hired by the Borough of Maywood if we are responsible to your current employer for training costs (Title 40A:14-178.) No waivers, no SLEO I, or II. New Jersey police officers with full certifications ONLY. Out of state police certifications are not accepted; no waivers. Applicants will be provided with a study guide and take a written test administered by the N.J. State Police Chief's Association.
The application process is open to all residents, however, we reserve the right to award preference for the following residents:
1. Borough of Maywood residents
2. Bergen County residents
3. Out of County residents.
Applications will be accepted until February 11, 2022 at 11:59 P.M. OR until the first 100 applications are received.
Interested applicants must also have:
- At least 60 college level credits earned and completed from an accredited college or university; or
- At least two consecutive years of military service with an honorary discharge; and

At least two years of full-time law enforcement experience and have satisfactorily completed their probationary period by 2 years, with either a New Jersey municipal, county, or state agency.
He or she shall, prior to being appointed subject to the following condition: satisfactorily pass the physical, psychological/psychiatric examinations and drug testing that will be required. These examinations shall be designed to determine, according to accepted medical and psychological standards, the candidate's fitness and ability to perform the duties of a police officer as well as to demonstrate the candidate's eligibility for inclusion in the Police and Firemen's Retirement System.

After the close of the application process, applicants will be notified when to respond to police headquarters to pick up a testing guide. All applicants will be notified of the testing date and location to be held in Maywood on February 24, 2022.
