Position Summary
The Ho-Ho-Kus Police Department is seeking qualified, professional, and community-focused individuals for the position of Certified Police Officer. Candidates must possess a current New Jersey Police Training Commission (PTC) certification and demonstrate a strong commitment to public service, integrity, and proactive policing.
Minimum Qualifications
• Valid New Jersey Police Training Commission (PTC) certification
• U.S. citizen
• At least 18 years of age
• High school diploma or GED required (college degree preferred)
• Valid New Jersey driver’s license
• Ability to pass background, medical, and psychological evaluations
Preferred Qualifications
• Prior law enforcement experience (lateral candidates encouraged)
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Commitment to community policing
• Bilingual skills are a plus
Responsibilities
• Enforce laws and ordinances
• Conduct proactive patrols
• Respond to calls for service
• Investigate incidents and prepare reports
• Testify in court
• Build community relationships
