Greenfield - Police Officer

Greenfield Police Department is now accepting Applications all year!  Once a position is available we will contact applicants about the next steps. The Physical Agility and Written Tests will be conducted on Saturday, June 6th.  Secondary Applications must be completed by 11:59pm on May 1st to be invited to testing.

We will accept lateral candidates with this process.  Lateral candidates are ILEA Tier 1 certified or have equivalent certification from another state.  Lateral Applicants will complete the physical agility test but not the written test.

Minimum Qualifications:

Must be US Citizen
Must be at least 21 years of age, but not older than 39 at the time of appointment
High School Diploma or GED
Must have a valid Indiana Driver's License
No felony convictions
Must be able to possess firearms

Written Exam
Oral Interview
Certified Voice Stress Analysis
Background Investigation
PERF Medical/Psychological examination and acceptance

SALARY for 2026:

Probationary: $68,816.02 (until completion of FTO for Laterals)
Lateral Hires: Up to $77,747.28 (with 3 or more years of service, after FTO)
$10,000 Max Longevity Yearly ($400/year of service at GPD)

JOB DESCRIPTION/GENERAL DUTIES:

Incumbent serves as Patrol Officer for the Greenfield Police Department, responsible for enforcing state and local laws, serving and protecting individuals, their rights, and property.  Building stronger community relationships daily. 

INFORMATION ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT:
Population of Greenfield is 24,000+, we are currently creating a candidate list. We respond to around 25,000 calls a year. The city has a lot of new growth with several trails and parks.
