The Ansonia Police Department provides 24-hour law enforcement services to the City of Ansonia, population 18,500, which is located within New Haven County. Forty-five sworn officers respond to over 19,000 calls for service annually with twelve civilian personnel providing support.
The Ansonia Police Department is comprised of three divisions:

Patrol Officer Starting Salary: $ 61,776
· After two years: $ 65,478
· After three years: $ 66,643
· After five years: $ 67,953
· After ten years: $ 69,472
(effective July 1, 2015)
New recruits receive training at a Police Officer Standards and Training Council (POSTC) Academy and after successful completion; the recruit is then placed in a minimum 12-week Field Training program at the Ansonia Police Department.
All sworn personnel are also eligible for vacation time, 13 paid holidays, personal days, compensatory time, uniform allotment, tuition assistance and college incentive pay. Additionally, a comprehensive medical/dental package, life insurance and State of Connecticut pension plan (C.M.E.R.S.) are included in the benefit package. Patrol officers work a 4-2/4-2/5-2 schedule and are certified as M.R.T. responders.
