The Elizabethtown Borough Police Department is accepting applications for the position of FULL-TIME POLICE OFFICER from February 16, 2026, until March 20, 2026. GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
Be a citizen of the United States
Be 21 years old prior to the application deadline
Possess a diploma from an accredited high school or possess a GED
Be physically and mentally fit to perform the essential job functions of a police officer
Prior to appointment, possess a valid PA Drivers’ License
**Prior Act 120 Police Academy certification & police experience is preferred, but not required**
SALARY AND BENEFITS
Starting Salary (Non-Certified Officers): $52,689 - $66,469 (Based upon qualifications)
Starting Salary (Certified Officers): $66,469 - $81,078 (Based upon qualifications & experience)
Max Patrol Salary: $102,461

Applicants who participated in the 2025 Lancaster County Chiefs of Police Association Consortium Testing can use the scores of their Written Examination and Physical Agility Test as their scores for this hiring process.

ABOUT US
The Elizabethtown Police Department is a progressive, well-trained, and well-equipped civil service regulated police agency that has been serving the Elizabethtown community since 1911. Elizabethtown Borough has a population of approximately 12,000 residents and includes Elizabethtown College and the Elizabethtown Area School District. The Department has a complement of 20 full time police officers and 2 administrative civilian personnel. EPD Members include the Chief of Police, Lieutenants, Corporals, Detectives, School Resource Officer, and Patrol Officers.
EPD is a community-oriented policing agency, with members trained in multiple disciplines including, but not limited to, bicycle patrol, forensics, crash reconstruction, DUI enforcement, firearms instructors, field-training officers, and traffic safety. Additionally, members can participate in various county task forces and specialized teams to include the Lancaster County Major Crimes Unit, Lancaster County Crash Investigative Team, and the Lancaster County Special Emergency Response Team (SERT).
