2027 starting salary $57,445.61 (Step 1) to $144,846.25 (Step 9)
Starting salary based upon previous time and experience
9 steps to top patrol salary.
Top salary at the end of the contract is $150,640.10

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
All applicants for the Hardyston Township Police Department must meet the minimum qualifications to be eligible to participate in the recruitment process for the position of certified entry level police officer. Failure to meet any of these qualifications will automatically disqualify a candidate from further consideration for employment.
- Certified in Basic Course for Police Officers (BCPO) by the NJ Police Training Commission (PTC) OR currently enrolled in a Police Training Commission (PTC) certified New Jersey Police Academy.
- Must be a citizen of the United States.
- Must be of good moral character
- Must be at least twenty-one (21) but not more than thirty-five (35) years of age as of the date of appointment, except as provided by law in the case of veterans
- Must not have been convicted of a crime
- Must possess a valid New Jersey driver's license. Applicant must not have had a license suspended or revoked within a five-year period immediately preceding the date of the application.
Hiring Process

- PTC physical fitness test
- Five (5) applicants will move to the next phase (background investigation); if any candidates are disqualified during the background investigation, then they will be replaced by another eligible candidate.
- Five (5) applicant Oral Interview (Township Manager, Chief of Police, Patrol Division Commander, Investigative Division Commander, & Background Investigators(s).
- Psychological Evaluation
- Medical Examination
- Drug Test
