Community Engagement Coordinator

 

Position Summary:

The Community Engagement Coordinator is the point of contact between the citizens of Nampa and the Nampa Police Department. Organizes and conducts public information and messages to both the community and media outlets. Orchestrates public engagement programs and events throughout the community.

 

Duties:

Communications professional who can develop and implement targeted communications and content for a variety of both local and national police media platforms.

You will need to research, write, proofread and edit all content, and plan and execute all media and community campaigns as well as public speaking events.

Social Media Coordinator: Execute a results-driven social media strategy. Develop and curate engaging content for social media platforms.

Manages relations with news outlets and organizes press interviews.

Handles emergency communications involving crisis or unforeseen circumstances requiring research, writing, editing and speaking.

Manage and Maintain the Nampa Police website: Oversee the functionality of the website, evaluate and manage website performance, and maintain and update website content.

Community events coordinator: Coordinate community meetings and events and manage all stages of planning.

Develops community interactive programs and activities.

Makes presentation to various groups and committees at the Chief of Police request.

 

Experience:

Required: High school graduate and a minimum of two (2) years’ experience in communications, marketing, or event planning.

 

Skills:

Maintains a polished professional presentation with a “personal excellence” brand.

Presents well in individual, small and larger group settings.

Effectively build alliances and relationships that benefit both the community and The Nampa Police Department.

The ability to direct and work with police officers and command staff.

Basic computer skills (i.e., e-mail, Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook, Publisher and data base management.

Ability to communicate effectively with others, both orally and in writing, using both technical and non-technical language; understand and follow oral and/or written policies, procedures, and instructions; and use logical and creative thought processes to develop solutions according to written specifications and/or oral instructions.

Ability to compile and summarize information and prepare and present accurate and reliable reports (including periodic or special reports) containing findings and recommendations.

Ability to use initiative and independent judgment within established procedural guidelines.

Ability to organize own work, set priorities and perform a wide variety of duties and responsibilities with accuracy and speed under the pressure of time-sensitive deadlines.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the Police Department members, citizens, business representatives and groups, and local, State and Federal representatives, and other employees.

Integrity, ingenuity, and inventiveness in the performance of assigned tasks.

Specific Disqualifiers/Behaviors:

 

Felony, Criminal Activity Disqualifiers:

No marijuana uses in the last three (3) years or illicit drugs use in the last five years (5).

No felony or serious misdemeanor convictions since the age of 18

No under the age of 18 adult criminal waivers

No undetected felony or serious misdemeanors committed by applicant since the age of 18

No minor misdemeanor convictions in the last 5 years or extensive minor misdemeanor history

Able to meet all IDAPA rules concerning character, drug use, traffic violations, and criminal violations.

Special Conditions:

The City of Nampa has a Drug/Alcohol Free Workplace Policy. Any offer of employment is contingent upon passing a pre-employment drug test and background check.
