School Resource Officer

The Town of Hinsdale Police Department is accepting applications for the position of School Resource Officer.  Selected applicants with the minimum qualifications listed below must pass a physical fitness test, oral board, intensive background investigation, polygraph examination, psychological exam and a medical exam.  Applicants must be certified or certifiable by the NH Police Standards & Training Council.  Full-Time Certified applicants will be given preference and may qualify for a $10,000 sign on bonus for full-time NH certified police officers and $7000.00 for out of state full-time certified police officers.

Minimum Qualifications:  All applicants for the Hinsdale Police Department must be United States citizens; high school graduates, or possesses a GED certificate; and meets the state age requirement of at least 21 years.  College education and/or military experience are highly desirable.

General Duties:  Duties include patrol, law enforcement, and providing for general public safety and as further detailed the position’s job description.  This may include the investigation of crimes, identification and apprehension of offenders, traffic enforcement, accident investigation, and providing emergency services.  Applicants should have excellent communication skills.  Applicants must be able to analyze situations quickly and objectively.

The applicant is a sworn police officer with the Hinsdale Police Department and must possess a strong community oriented policing mindset and have the ability to work in collaboration with the Hinsdale SAU 92 school system, community based organizations and the community of Hinsdale.

The qualified applicant must possess the ability to develop crime prevention efforts, educate school age victims in crime prevention, develop and expand community justice initiatives for students, train students in conflict resolution, restorative justice and crime awareness.

The qualified candidate will also possess the ability to assist in crime reduction around the school campus and assist in developing school policy that addresses crime and recommend procedural changes as needed.
