ENTRY LEVEL POLICE OFFICER
Reports to: Chief of Police or designee
Status: Full-time
Salary: $32.38 per hour while in Police Academy / $37.18 per hour one year from graduation date from Academy. Union/Non Union: Union
FLSA: Non-exempt

The Wethersfield Police Department, a state and nationally accredited law enforcement agency, is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Police Officer.
Successful candidates must be 21 years of age at time of appointment, a U.S. citizen, possess a high school diploma or equivalent GED and a valid motor vehicle operator's license. Candidates must not have been convicted of any felony, any class A or class B misdemeanor, domestic violence convictions or have committed any act which would constitute perjury or false statement.
The written examination scores from the CPCA testing process will be utilized by the Wethersfield Police Department.

Summary
Under the direction of the Chief of Police, a police officer will enforce the laws of the state and municipal ordinances of the Town and protect the lives and property of the citizens of Wethersfield and the State of Connecticut.
Examples of Duties:
In-field duties: Enforce state law and local ordinances, respond to emergency and routine calls for service throughout the town, render first aid and other assistance to citizens as required.
