Now Hiring Police Dispatcher
The South Kingstown Police Department is seeking candidates to establish an eligibility list for civilian police dispatcher. One full time position is currently available with the work shift to be determined. This position is responsible for the handling of public assistance calls for police, fire and emergency medical services. Basic qualifications include accurate typing and data entry, multi-tasking, excellent communication skills, dependability and the ability to deal tactfully and effectively with the public in both routine and crisis situations.
Qualified candidates should have a high school diploma or GED and a minimum of 1 year of experience in an administrative setting. Prior Public Safety dispatch, IMC experience and PowerPhone certifications are preferred, but not required.
This Council 94 position works 40 hours per week, starts at an annual salary of $44,788, and includes a full range of fringe benefits. The full contract can be viewed online on the Town’s website referenced below. Please note -the police dispatcher recruitment process includes an exam and a thorough background check. The written exam will be held at South Kingstown High School, 215 Columbia St., Wakefield, RI 02879 on Wednesday, June 21st, 2017 at 5:30pm.
