Coventry Police Department

The Coventry Police Department is a full-service law enforcement agency located in Northeastern Connecticut. There are sixteen sworn officers and five civilian staff members providing service to approximately 12,500 residents located within 37 square miles. Coventry is approximately 15 miles east of Hartford and five miles from the UCONN Storrs Campus. The Town is mostly residential with easy access to Interstates 84 and 384. Coventry Lake, Patriot’s Park and Lisicke Beach offer a variety of recreational activities and events during the summer months.

Officers conduct all aspects of law enforcement services including preventative patrol, criminal investigations, traffic enforcement and community service.

The department has been accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. at the advanced level since 2010 and is also fully accredited by the Connecticut POST Council. Although we are a small department, there are a number of opportunities for specialized assignments and training. All of our members subscribe to our motto of:

POLICY STATEMENT

It is the policy of the Coventry Police Department to provide for the protection of life and property of all persons regardless of their race, creed, color, sex, national origin, religion, sexual orientation, age or disability. The constitutional rights of all people shall be the primary concern of all members of the department in the performance of their official duties.

The Coventry Police Department obtains its authority from the people, and is charged with the responsibility to achieve and maintain public order through the powers granted by the legislative bodies of the Federal, State and Municipal Governments.

Public confidence in the criminal justice system depends to a large extent on the trust that the people have in their police. Only by providing the highest quality of service and maintaining the highest professional ethics can we expect to foster that trust and confidence.
