ACT 120 Certified Police Officer

The Township of West Hempfield is accepting applications for an immediate opening for ACT 120 certified police officer.  Applicants must possess a current valid PA operator’s license and have successfully completed Act 120 training.  Minimum qualification information is available at PoliceApp.com or at the West Hempfield Township Police Department, 3401 Marietta Ave, Lancaster, PA., Monday through Friday, 8:00 am – 4:30 p.m.  Completed applications must be submitted online at policeapp.com no later than 4:00 p.m. on August 7, 2017.  EOE

Minimum Qualifications for the position of Police Officer:

• 21 years or older by the date of employment
• Must have successfully completed Act 120 training or currently be enrolled in Act 120 training with a graduation date of no later than Seeptember 1, 2017.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent;
• Possess a current and valid PA motor vehicle license; (Out-of-state applicants must possess a current and valid PA license at time of employment.)
• Must have completed Municipal Police Basic Training and be certified or able to be certified at time of employment.
• Free of any state or federal criminal convictions that are punishable by more than one (1) year imprisonment;
• Free of any conviction of any crime enumerated in the PA Uniform Firearms Act of 1995;
• Free of any conviction of any crime enumerated in 18 PA C.S., Chapter 61;
• Be able to perform all of the essential functions, duties and responsibilities of a police officer, with or without reasonable accommodations, in accordance with the West Hempfield Township Police Department Police Officer Job Description.

Successful candidates must: 

• Undergo a rigorous background investigation to include, but not limited to, a criminal history check, driving history check, financial history/credit check, employment history/discipline check, military history/discipline check, education history, and personal references;
• Undergo a thorough physical/medical examination;
• Undergo a thorough psychological examination;
• Undergo a polygraph examination;
• Successfully pass review by an oral review board(s);
• Accept the terms and conditions of the “Pre-Employment Agreement”, and;
• Undergo any other examination or screening process as deemed necessary.
