The Hamburg Borough Police Department has approved the hiring of a professional, qualified, and energetic applicant for the position of Class II Special Police Officer.

Applicants should possess the department’s Core Values of Honesty, Integrity, Fairness, Compassion, and Respect.

Minimum Qualifications Class II

  • The Class II applicant must possess a current Special Law Enforcement Officer Class II, (SLEO II) certificate, or New Jersey Police Training Commission certification for Basic Course for Police Officers (BCPO). Applicant must not have had a break in service more than 3 years and must have separated from the prior service in good standing.
  • Applicant must be physically capable of performing the functions of the position, determined in accordance with the Police Training Commission.
  • Applicants must possess a NJ Police Training Commission Basic Police Officer Certification or NJ State Police Academy Certification.
  • Applicants must possess a valid New Jersey Driver License.
  • Applicant must successfully pass a background investigation.
  • Applicants must successfully pass a psychological/medical evaluation.

 

Starting Salary for the Class II Special Police Officer shall range from $20.00 - $30.00 per hour, and he/she shall work a schedule up to 38 hours weekly, to be determined upon hiring.
