SLEO Class I
Eligibility Requirements 40A:14-146.14
- Be a citizen of the United States and resident of New Jersey.
- NJSA 40A:14-127, applicants must be at least between the ages of 18 and 35 years of age when hired
- Successfully completed a NJ Police Training Commission-approved basic training course for SLEO Class I.
- Graduated from high school or possess a General Equivalency Degree (GED)
- Possess a valid NJ Driver’s License
- Be of good moral character, NO indictable convictions or moral turpitude offenses
- Be in good health and physically fit to meet the demands of a SLEO Class-I Officer.
- Each applicant will undergo a thorough background check, Oral interview, drug, and psychological testing.
- An oral interview
- Duties will include but are not limited to; Schools, traffic control, crowd control, issuing summonses
- SLEO Class I will be an annual appointment
- All SLEO Officers shall be under the supervision and direction of the Chief of Police or his/her designee of the Oradell Police Department
