ENTRY LEVEL POLICE OFFICER
APPLICATIONS ARE BEING ACCEPTED BEGINNING July 21, 2025, AND MUST BE COMPLETED AND SUBMITTED BY September 19, 2025. Please read the requirements carefully.
EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS
-At least 18 years of age and less than 35 years of age or is within the requirements set by PFRS.
-U.S. citizen and resident of the State of New Jersey at the time of appointment
-High School graduate or equivalent
-Good moral character and temperament
-Good physical condition, height proportionate to weight
-Possess a valid New Jersey driver’s license at time of appointment
-Must pass a Physical Fitness Exam, Written Exam and Oral Interview.
TESTING REQUIREMENTS:
-Physical Fitness Assessment: This evaluation is scheduled for October 4, 2025 from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm. Each applicant will be required to sign a waiver prior to participating in the assessment. The location will be sent to applicants through PoliceApp. The Physical Fitness Assessment is comprised of five events. Each applicant must achieve the minimum passing score for every event:
-Vertical Jump 15 inches (Minimum passing score)
-1 minute Sit-up: 28 repetitions (Minimum passing score)
-300 Meter Run: 70.1 seconds (Minimum passing score)
-1 Minute Pushup: 24 repetitions (Minimum passing score)
-1.5 Mile Run: 15:55 minutes (Minimum passing score)
-Written Examination: Open only to applicants that have passed the Physical Fitness Assessment. Applicants must achieve a minimum score of 70% to pass. The written test will be administered on Wednesday, October 8, 2025 at 5:30 PM at the Hillsborough Township Municipal Building located at 379 South Branch Road Hillsborough, NJ 08844.
-Oral Interview: Dates for the oral interview will be scheduled following the completion of the written examination.
-The dates for the Physical Fitness Assessment and Written Examination cannot be changed. If you cannot show up for both dates, you will not move forward in the process.

BENEFITS INCLUDE:
Salary during Police Academy (2025) is $51,440 which rises to $58,726 upon successful completion of the police academy. Patrol Officer top salary is $152,799 (2026 salary per current PBA contract).
