West Windsor Township Police Department, NJ Police Jobs

The West Windsor Police Department is now accepting applications for: Certified Police Officer 

  • The applicant must possess a NJ Police Training Commission Certification (PTC) for Basic Police Officer or Class Two Special Law Enforcement Officer (SLEO II). 
  • Applicants currently attending a NJ Police Training Commission certified academy and who anticipate receiving certification for Basic Police Officer or Class Two Special Law Enforcement Officer will also be considered.   
  • Correctional Police Officer certifications and out-of-state police certifications do not qualify.

** The West Windsor Police Department may offer a lateral pay incentive up to step 4 of the current contract based on the number of years of sworn full-time police officer service. **

The applicant may be required to pay any Title 40A costs associated with leaving their previous agency.  

About the West Windsor Police Department

The West Windsor Police Department consists of an authorized strength of fifty-four (54) sworn officers and fourteen (14) civilian personnel.

The Patrol Division is the largest division with one (1) lieutenant, eight (8) sergeants and twenty-eight (28) officers.  The Patrol Division consists of four (4) squads working steady twelve-hour shifts with every other Friday, Saturday, and Sunday off.  The Patrol Division has three (3) canine officers.

The Detective Bureau consists of one (1) lieutenant, one (1) sergeant, and six (6) detectives. Two (2) detectives are designated as juvenile detectives.  

The Traffic Division consists of one (1) sergeant and four (4) officers.

The Administration consists of the chief of police, two (2) lieutenants, and one (1) training sergeant.

The Drone Unit consists of seven (7) pilots.

Resiliency Programs: Physical training time while on-duty.  Yearly incentives for passing physical fitness test.

Opportunities for specialized units include: Detective Bureau, Traffic Division, Motor Unit, K9 Unit, Drone Unit, Honor Guard, Mercer County Tactical Response Team.  

Minimum Qualifications

  • Citizen of the United States
  • A resident of New Jersey at the time of appointment
  • A valid New Jersey driver's license at the time of appointment
  • Minimum age of 18 years, Maximum age of 34 years at time of appointment (unless actively enrolled in the NJ Police and Fire Division of Pensions and Benefits system)
  • Normal hearing in both ears
  • Visual acuity must be correctable to 20/30 in both eyes.  Able to distinguish colors
  • Must be eligible to enter into the NJ Police and Fire Division of Pensions and Benefits system

  • Drug Screening

Physical Fitness Test

  • The physical fitness test will consist of a one (1) mile run followed immediately by pull-ups or flex arm hang (option only for females), push-ups, sit-ups, equipment carry, and dummy drag.
  • All applicants participating in the physical fitness test will be required to sign a waiver of liability form.  The waiver is attached to the initial application and should be completed and brought with you to the test.
