Join the Englewood Police Department as an Entry Level Police Officer or Transfer (Police Only) in New Jersey!
Are you ready to launch your career in law enforcement or continue your journey with a dynamic police force? The Englewood Police Department in New Jersey is looking for dedicated individuals to join their team as Entry Level Police Officers or Transfer (Police Only) candidates.
This opening is for applicants with or without PTC certification for Basic Police Officer.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Is a citizen of the United States and a resident of New Jersey; and
- Is sound in body, health sufficient to satisfy the board of trustees of the Police and Fireman's Retirement System of New Jersey as to his or her eligibility for membership in the retirement system; and
- Can read, write, and speak the English language well and intelligently and can satisfactorily meet the requirements of the written and oral examinations and physical examination which will be given; and
- Is a high school graduate or possesses a high school equivalency certificate recognized by the New Jersey Department of Education and has at least one of the following three (3) at the time of appointment, but all may take the exam;
- Sixty (60) college credits from an accredited college or university or;
- Two years honorable military service and honorable discharge or;
- A valid PTC certification from the state of New Jersey for Basic Police Officer;
- The following are mandatory pre-requisites at the time of appointment:
- Possesses a valid New Jersey driver’s license; and
- Is of good moral character and has not been convicted of any criminal offense involving moral turpitude; and
- Is physically, mentally, and psychologically fit to efficiently perform the duties of the position sought; and
- Is not addicted to the use of drugs or intoxicating liquor; and
- Has not been dismissed from prior police or related employment for cause; and
- Has not made any false statement or practiced or attempted to practice any deception or fraud in his or her application for employment, test, or otherwise in securing eligibility or appointment; and
- New hires must pass all physical, psychological, psychiatric, drug and alcohol screening, medical, written and oral examinations required by the City Manager. Additional testing may be required if concerns arise that justify further testing.

RETIREMENT
- Englewood Police Officers are enrolled in the NJ Police and Fire Retirement System (PFRS). When an officer retires, he or she can take advantage of a comprehensive retirement plan. The plan offers a wide variety of benefits, depending on years of service.
Applicants will be required to upload a current resume, cover letter, copy of your driver's license, a copy of your PTC certification or Police Academy certificate/diploma, or a letter confirming you are enrolled in a certified NJ Alternate Route program.
