Now Accepting Applications – Police Officer
The Bernardsville Police Department is currently accepting applications for an anticipated opening for the position of Police Officer.
The goal of the Bernardsville Police Department's Recruitment Plan is to attract highly qualified candidates who are committed to serving the community, with a special emphasis on recruiting individuals who reflect the demographics and diversity of the Borough of Bernardsville.
Preferred Qualifications
- Current New Jersey Basic Course for Police Officers (BCPO) certification or waiver-eligible SLEO II PTC Certification
- 60 college credits or three (3) years of honorable military service preferred
Starting salary will be determined at the time of appointment in accordance with the current PBA collective bargaining agreement.
Minimum Requirements
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Be a United States citizen
- Be a resident of New Jersey at the time of appointment
- Possess a valid New Jersey driver's license
- Be in good physical health and successfully pass a medical examination meeting New Jersey Police Training Commission standards
- Successfully pass a psychological evaluation establishing fitness for duty
- Be able to read, write, and speak the English language proficiently
- Be of good moral character and have no criminal convictions involving moral turpitude
- Successfully complete a comprehensive background investigation
- Have completed, or be able to successfully complete, a New Jersey State-certified police training program
